A reasonably priced source of environmental information BRAND NEW EDITION - ON APPROVAL The current revolution in Environmental Law and Practice entails new legislation in such areas as waste, environmental permitting, environmental civil sanctions, air, water and the EU. In relation to waste, The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 constitute important new legislation on waste hierarchy, transfer, carriers, brokers, dealers, waste management plans and prevention programmes. In relation to environmental permitting, new provision is made by the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010 (as amended) and the new DEFRA Guidance. The 2010 Regulations extend the environmental permitting regime to the former consenting of water discharges, groundwater permitting and radioactive substances regimes. In relation to environmental civil sanctions, the Environmental Civil Sanctions (England) Order 2010 creates new sanctions for specified offences. In relation to air, fresh provision includes the Energy Act 2011. In relation to water, there is new provision on marine matters and coastal access, flood and water management and flood risk and on water resources. In relation to the EU, there is major new legislation onindustrial emissions (IPPC), substances that deplete the ozone layer, REACH etc. Research has shown that information on environmental law and practice provides either too much or too little information. All of this necessitates a new approach - and a new handbook - “Environment Brief”. Written by a Solicitor with extensive experience of environmental law and practice in a major British plc, “Environment Brief” comprises some 1100 A5 pages in two loose-leaf Volumes and is contained in two smart, foam padded, leather-look Binders. Designed as either a stand-alone text or a companion text to “Health & Safety at Work Brief”, “Environment Brief” features both cross-referencing within its text and to the text of “Health & Safety at Work Brief”. The text is completely up to date, including the legislation cited above . Volume 1 of “Environment Brief” is comprised of an independent commentary of over 570 pages. It constitutes one stop treatment of environmental matters. Volume 2 is comprised of some 550 pages reproducing verbatim the consolidated legislative texts of Key Acts, Regulations, etc. The text states the law in England. It also states the law in general in Scotland and Wales.
