Environment Brief Information

A reasonably priced source of environmental information

BRAND NEW EDITION - ON APPROVAL

The current revolution in Environmental Law and Practice entails new legislation in such areas as chemicals, climate change and air, environmental permitting, water, waste and generally. In relation to chemicals, new provision includes the Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2009, REACH, COMAH and dangerous chemicals. In relation to climate change and air, new provision includes the Climate Change Act 2008, the Low Carbon Transition Plan 2009 and the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations 2009. In relation to environmental permitting, this brand new edition gives a major commentary in Cchapter C together with a thoroughly integrated consideration of the environmental permitting regime throughout the rest of the text (see below). In relation to water, this text includes new legislation on bathing water, nitrate pollution prevention and water supply. In relation to waste, this includes new legislation on batteries and accumulators, electrical and electronic equipment and site waste management. In relation to coverage generally, this includes the Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2008 and the Environmental Damage (Prevention and Remediation) Regulations 2009. The forthcoming Environmental Sanctions Order 2010 will introduce tougher enforcement. In relation to the EU, this text states the position after the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty. This replaced the EC Treaty with the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. It also includes major new Directives on waste, water, the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures and protection of the environment through crimiinal law and proposals to replace legislation on ozone-depleting substances, WEEE etc. Research has shown that information on environmental law and practice provides either too much or too little information. All of this necessitates a new approach - and a new handbook - “Environment Brief”. Written by a Solicitor with extensive experience of environmental law and practice in a major British plc, “Environment Brief” comprises over 1100 A5 pages in two loose-leaf Volumes and is contained in two smart, foam padded, leather-look Binders. Designed as either a stand-alone text or a companion text to “Health & Safety at Work Brief”, “Environment Brief” features both cross-referencing within its text and to the text of “Health & Safety at Work Brief”. The text is completely up to date, including the legislation cited above . Volume 1 of “Environment Brief” is comprised of an independent commentary of some 560 pages. It constitutes one stop treatment of environmental matters. Volume 2 is comprised of some 540 pages reproducing verbatim the consolidated legislative texts of Key Acts, Regulations, etc. The text states the law in England. It also states the law in general in Scotland and Wales.
